Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Chicago, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Illinois run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 5β10 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Tuesday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Tarra at (312) 955-8889; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, tarrachicago.com.
Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 51 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded thai restaurants in Chicago.
Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. Getting around Chicago is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Illinois's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Very nice restaurant atmosphere. Appetizers and entrees were delicious and incredibly flavorful. Dessert was really bad - it was egg custard but it had fried onions on top of it. The onion taste was so powerful and didnβt pair well with the other flavors of the dessert. Such a disappointing way to end an otherwise delicious meal. Left us with a bad taste for the rest of the evening.

We had the chance to have dinner at Tarra before their grand opening, and it was a fantastic experience. The food is an elevated take on Thai cuisine, with incredible flavors and beautiful presentation. We were lucky enough to be seated in the Chef Room, where we could watch the chef and his team compose each dish. It made an already special dinner even more memorable. Everything we tried was delicious, but the standouts for us were the sea bass curry and the beef skewers. Both were exceptional. The entire team was also warm, friendly, and welcoming. Tarra is a great addition to the dining scene, and weβre looking forward to coming back!

Amazing experience at Tarra! The food was flavorful and beautifully presented, and the atmosphere was gorgeous. The Massaman short rib was especially delicious. Great service as well β definitely one of my new favorite Thai spots in Chicago!
